The better prepared you are to provide this information, the better we will be able to serve you. During your initial visit you will be seen by our office nurses who will ask you about your medical history and your symptoms. A focused neurological examination will then be made by your doctor. While many patients want to discuss in great detail the exact event which may have caused their injury, the most important information your health care team needs involves your symptoms (such as where you have pain, weakness, numbness, etc.) and what limitations these symptoms place on your every day activities. Please take the time to write down this information. After reviewing your medical history and diagnostic tests, you will be presented with a number of treatment options. We will inform you of the risks and benefits of each option and will assist you in making the final decision concerning which option is best for you. Office Policies On your initial visit, please bring with you any requested items (such as X-rays, CT or MRI scans, etc.) as well as information concerning your insurance, Workers Compensation or Medicare coverage. Occasionally the appointment schedule may be disrupted by a seriously ill patient who must be seen immediately. Your understanding in these situations is appreciated. Please see the information below for procedures to follow if you have an emergency after normal office hours. You are responsible for paying for the initial visit at the time of your visit. If you have any questions about your insurance coverage including Medicare, please ask a member of our office staff. Emergencies What to do in an emergency after normal office hours. If you have an emergency after normal office hours, you will be directed to go to the nearest hospital emergency room where you will be evaluated by the emergency room physician. They will be in direct contact with your doctor or the on-call neurosurgeon from our office. The emergency room staff works very closely with our staff in assessing, diagnosing and treating our patients. Please recognize that only those calls made by physicians or authorized hospital personnel are accepted by our staff after normal office hours. Insurance We accept most insurance plans including Workers Compensation and Automobile Insurance.
